Beverly Sunday

Beverly (on the Right) pictured here with J’lene Bradley (left) and Dawn Maracle (center) at the EM Ottawa Launch.

At the EM Ottawa Launch in January, I met Beverly Sunday.  A gorgeous, charismatic woman who is working towards opening an Aboriginal Dance and Fitness studio, HAWK,  in Hintonburg in April.  Although I was walking around trying to get photos of each member, I was also drawn to Beverly with her sunny smile and enthusiasm.

Yesterday, through Twitter, I found out that Beverly and her husband, Joseph, were in terrible car accident on Friday, February 19th.  They are both still in the hospital with head injuries, collapsed lung and broken bones.  Beverly had just been to the Olympics dancing at the opening ceremonies and now she is fighting for her life.   Please include Beverly and Joseph in your Prayers, she is Mom to three children and I just can’t bare the thought of them growing up without their Mom or Dad.

We are thinking of you Beverly.

I couldn’t believe the news either. I was so impressed by her passion and determination at the launch of EM Ottawa as well. It seems both her and her husband have now opened their eyes so let’s keep sending good thoughts their way for a full recovery so they can be with their 3 children again very soon.

That is devastating, Anna. I’m so sad to hear that. I will keep her in my prayers. Thank you so much for posting this.

Angels must be watching over them, Bev and Joe have too much to live for God must have a plan for them.Their vibrant spirits and beautiful natures have embraced many of us.
We are praying for them all.

Bev is a true role model and inspired all of us who attended the Indigenous Youth Gathering. I’m hoping we can all return the favor this Saturday at 6pm during the Art Auction at Saw Gallery, to show her and her family that we are here to support them in their time of need.

Both Bev and her husband Joe are recovering well, it’s going to be a long slow haul, but they will pull through. if you know them, please make an effort to visit them at the Ottawa Rehabilitation unit. you can keep updated on facebook through the sunday-sayer homepage, where current info is posted.
thanks for everyone’s prayers – it certainly has helped!
