What a week. The weather turned from gorgeous to cool and rainy, but I am not really complaining because the grass is so green and we really, really needed the rain. The buds on the trees are bursting waiting to open up with my most favourite green. I can’t wait.
This week, I tried to get back on track. I did three 3km power walks after dropping J at school and one strength workout. I really need to get my strength training back up as it is the muscles I need to build. I am pleased with this this week as Apple and I were suffering with terrible colds. Now that I am almost 100% and Apple will be there soon, I am going to get back to a new workout I had started a couple of weeks ago, but got siderailed.
In honour of my continuous efforts to workout, I want to share with you one of my favorite pieces of workout gear. Resistance bands.

If you don’t have a gym membership or a set of weights, resistance bands can really pump up your workout. They can also be used in addition to weights to offer added benefits. I love my resistant bands. Which, were given to me by my personal trainer.
I would like to give away a set of resistance bands (may not be exactly as shown in the photo above) to one of my readers. To enter, simply leave a comment and let me know how bands would help you with your workouts. I will randomly pick a winner on Friday morning (April 24th).

I promise that this will be my last tired, late night Workout Wednesday post. My Sister and her kids are leaving tomorrow and I think life will be back to normal chez BeachMama. As much fun as it is to have them here, it is always intense. The kids play and play and play knowing they have limited time, we all stay up late and are exhausted. They should just move back already so we can spread out the Love.
Alas, this week was a little weak on the workout front. I did a lot of walking. I had to the weather was just too gorgeous. Three 3km walks to the grocery store for food. And one strength training workout. We also did a walking tour of the Market in Downtown Ottawa, which totally counts as a workout when there are six kids and three adults.
On the good front, I have maintained the muscle that I had started gaining and have lost an inch around my waist and a half inch off of each thigh. I forgot to measure my arms, but they feel less jiggly, so I am pretty sure they are doing well. In addition I am happy to report that I am back into my Spring clothes from pre-Apple. Now, if only I can get into my pre-J Summer clothes in another month I will be so ecstatic.
Keep up the workouts everyone, and get walking! The weather is so great, I have to break out the sunscreen tomorrow as we are all sporting glowing red cheeks. And don’t tell my dermatologist, but it feels GREAT!
Back to the regular workouts for me, I really want to fit a few cute sundresses that I used to wear.

It’s Workout Wednesday again and although I did much better this week Monday threw me a curveball and I missed two more workouts that I wanted to get in.
I managed two strength training days, both for an hour and an hour swim with J. I also managed to run around a museum for four hours then an airport for a half an hour yesterday, does this count?
This week I really wanted to show you the Standing Band Row. I love this exercise for two reasons. 1) it is great for you if you work a lot on a computer, it helps reverse the bad posture that we can get from sitting hovered over a computer. And 2) I feel great after I do it. It strengthens all sorts of wonderful muscles when done properly. Shoulders, back, arms, abs. And somehow I feel like a million bucks after doing this exercise.
As I spent my afternoon swimming and this evening baking a birthday cake I am going to link to this video that is a fantastic demonstration of this move. And to top it off the trainer is on the beach, can’t beat that for wonderful exercise.
I should add that if you don’t have a band you can use weights but, you will miss out on some of the resistance, it is still a great exercise to add to your repertoire.
