Workout Wednesday – Swimming

Phew!  I had a hard time getting into my server tonight and almost had to post Workout Wednesday on Thursday!

This has been a terrible week for me workout wise, but I will post it anyway.

I had my usual two walks to school each day.  I run (can I admit that it was a very short 1.5k) and a swim.

And it is this swim that reminded me that swimming is such an awesome form of exercise.  I will give you a single exercise next week when I am able to get back into my gym.  Although I take J to swimming lessons every week, I truly forget how great it is to get into the pool and stretch, work your legs and arms and overall just get exercise without feeling it.

Today, after all the sickies we had in the house, I packed up J and my niece and nephew and headed to the pool.  Not only is it still pretty inexpensive to go for a swim (I think my coffee costs more at the drive thru) but everyone was exhausted afterwards.  All three kids were asleep and snoring by 7:15pm and I am not far behind.

Now, if only I can figure out how to make our round above ground pool into a long lane pool this summer.  I kid, of course.

Great tip – and so true. Swimming is just amazing for you. I bet they all had a blast swimming – I haven’t taken my boys in ages, nor have I been swimming since last summer (I like to do it old school in the ocean!). I’ve been warned to swim more b/c I have bad knees and some feet problems and for my entire life people have been telling me not to run. But I don’t have to put on a swimsuit running so I still do it :-).

I started going to aquafit as a change from running and I really enjoy it.

Ah, I love swimming! I have not taken my boys swimming in an indoor pool since October, though. Then we went away in February and they swam in Bahamas. I want to take them back to the wave pool in the next few weeks. They both love being in the water but I would need to go with hubby/sister/mom because my 3 year old can’t swim alone yet, and obviously my 1 year old needs to be held! They love being in the water, though, and you are SO right – it totally tires them out… and they get a great night’s sleep after a few hours in the water! 🙂
Good for you for being so active. I SO have to get my act together!

Swimming is the best! I want to try doing it once I am done training for this half…of course that requires that I learn to go under water again without holding my nose!
