Workout Wednesday – Cardio Grooves Giveaway

If I am going to continue to be honest here on my blog, then I will admit it right now.  Last week I did nothing.

Ok, I walked J to school, dragging my feet the whole way, feeling like I had been hit by a truck.   I told you I was in a funk last week and I truly had no motivation to do anything.  I managed to read a couple of books, drink a lot of hot chocolate and sulk.  Yes, I sulked.

Then, Tuesday night the skies opened up, and the clouds dispersed, as the sun was setting, I could almost feel the warmth moving in on me.  I went to bed with a plan to run the next morning.

Wednesday, the day I should have posted this but got sidetracked, I awoke to sunshine and happiness.  I strapped on my running shoes, walked J to school and turned on my MP3 player in my phone.  Within two minutes I was running and feeling better.  Not a word of a lie, with every step I felt better and better.  I ran for 3km only stopping to clean up after the dog.  It was one of those runs that I could have just kept on going.

Whether it was the sun, warmth, happy people everywhere or the music on my phone something just connected.  And hooray it has carried through to today.  And to celebrate this, I wanted to have another little giveaway.  I want to share with you all the music that makes me run.  And not just a jog, but a run.

This is what I listened to last Fall when I ran the CIBC Run for the Cure, this is what I pipe through the basement speakers when I am running on the treadmill and this is what pumps through my phone when I am out running with Apple and Mickey (the dog).

Cardio Grooves.  This three CD set is full of blood pumping, feet moving music that dates (me) back to the mid to late 1980’s.  I simply cannot walk when I have this music pumping, I just can’t.

p.s. I am sitting in my backyard enjoying the sunshine as I type.  Sunshine truly is an awesome thing.

    Yay for this giveaway! I’d love to win because it will motivate me to work out… and dance around the house with my boys! When I’m driving in my car to and from work, I usually listen to the radio – or play my ipod in the car. (Like, through the tape deck with a connecter thingy, not in my ears!) My ipod has lots of different music on it – Madonna, Tom Petty, Britney Spears, Black Eyed Peas, Shakira, Rihanna, Dre, Snoop, and lots of other hip hop songs. Always gets me in the mood to dance or work out!

    omg I am so desperate for new tunes it isn’t even funny. Right now I’m listening to TWO SONGS over and over because I can’t come up with a new/inspired playlist. Isn’t that sad? Those two songs are Hung Up by Madonna and Help I’m Alive by Metric. I’ve also been listening to Bruises by Chairlift, but that’s not really a good workout song… it’s more of a “it’s a lovely day in the park” kind of song.

    When I actually work-out I use the Biggest Loser DVD Season One. So there’s no music. I would love to win because I get bored with doing the same work-out over and over.

    oh what a fun giveaway! I so need new music too! I’ve been going for a walk/run every morning (2-5K) with my kids’ iPods, alternating between the 3. Mostly hip-hop though. In the car, its the radio mostly: Hot 89 (urgh) when teh kids are there, whereas i alternate between CHEZ and Virgin. My hubby’s new car has Sirius free for 6 months: what a treat! Keep finding new awesome channels! But I am, at heart, a pure rock and roll fan even though I’ll listen to just about anything!

    And yeah for the funk going away!

    Normally we listen to Radio Canada (french CBC) or 99.1 . Not much workout inspiring… Can I blame much for NOT working out??

    System of a Down. Hands down, the best thing to get your butt moving! Heavy bass, fast tempos, you feel like you’ve been hit in the face with energy and you can’t help but hit back! Aside from that, other alternative or heavy metal works wonders – there is nothing better than getting MAD to make you MOVE 🙂

    I am a work out maniac and always always listen to music. I listen to oldies and new music, pretty much anything with a good peppy beat to keep me moving. I need music to keep the motivation going… 🙂
