A Perfect Day at the Fair.

Here is just a few of the photos I took at the Perth Fair on Sunday.

I had been out to Perth on Saturday for a celebration of Life and saw that the Fair was on.  Sunday morning we got up, ate breakfast and headed out.  J was dressed like a surfer version of Indiana Jones, complete with whip, (I often wonder what Harrison Ford would think about all these kids wanting to be just like him?) and Apple was wearing her floppy hat.

The weather was perfect, the crowds were small (that’s what happens when you get there before noon), the food was delicious.  We checked out the old cars, trucks and snowmobiles.  Exhibits, rodeo and rides.  Then we had a little lunch, rode some rides, had a Beavertail, rode some more rides.  Grabbed some cotton candy and water for the ride home and had a splendid day.

Opa has one more day before he returns home, so we are making the most of his visit.  As much as I love him here, I am looking forward to getting back to normal around here, all this excitement is starting to get to me.

Apple is Two!

My Baby turned two on Friday.  I am a little late on the post front, but we had a very busy day on Friday.

Since Opa is here visiting we have been going non-stop.  We had a morning of shopping an afternoon of getting ready for dinner and an evening of fun, food and loved ones to celebrate our little girl turning two.

Her two favourite presents were a pair of boots from Opa, that have only left her feet for sleeping and a trip to the fair. And the floppy sun hat you see here that my girlfriend brought over for her.  We had thirteen adults and six children for dinner, a record for us.  Our dining table had to be added on to and extended into the living room.  It was a lot of work but a great evening was had by all and the birthday girl managed to stay awake for the entire festivities.  The above photo was taken at the end of the night, so fitting.

Now for me to get over the fact that my baby is two years old!  Time really and truly flies when you are having fun and it sure doesn’t seem like two years has passed since we first welcomed her into our lives.

I know I have been lax the last two Wednesdays, but truly we have been so busy I have barely had time for the computer.  I have been trying to get in some exercise and now with J back at school I hope I will be back in full force.

For this week’s workout Wednesday, I must share with you my Mom.  She turned 63 yesterday and people still mistake us for Sisters when we are out shopping.  Mom has more spring in her step than most 40 year olds and can watch eight kids for a day, while cleaning her house and getting supper ready without barely missing a step.  She just knows how to do it.

This was Mom last Saturday night, she looks fantastic!

This was Mom yesterday when we presented her with her new Ride.

Mom walks almost every day and by walking I don’t mean strolling the neighbourhood while stopping to smell the flowers.  She boots it.  Mom straps on her running shoes and goes.  Come wintertime she doesn’t get her walks in as much so she takes as much advantage of the good weather that she can.

Mom has been talking about wanting a ‘beach cruiser’ style bicycle for many years now.  Dad has two of my old bikes hanging in the garage and one he found somewhere all of which are men’s bikes and have skinny seats and tires and handle bars that are really low. Mom has quietly suggested that she would like one that has a nice seat, balloon tires and a higher handle bar.  Well, after all these years we finally listened.  All of us girls and Dad included chipped in to surprise Mom with a new ride.  It is stying in Orange and quite classy with the brown leather seats and handle grips and white tires.  I should add that José over at Joe Mamma was awesome, he has a sale going on right now and had none prepared in the store, but he whipped it together for us in time for dinner last night (well, it was ready by 1pm) and I think that Dad would almost like one for himself.

So if you want to look fantastic at 63 years young, just be sure to keep yourself fit.  Whether you take a walk every day, clean you house like a madwoman (Mom is known for her cleaning skills) or ride your bike you will be sure to look and feel great.
