The Potty Dance!

I am home and so happy to be with my children again.  My head is still spinning from all the information I received and witnessed in my three days at the Inn.  I thought for sure I would have a little bit of time to blog while I was there, but apparently when they said it would be chalk full, they truly meant it!

I had wanted to post this while I was away, but since I ran out of time, I will have to put it up for you today.

Potty training in our house has been two entirely different experiences.  J was a little slow to show interest in potty training, but once we got the ball rolling he was done.  When he was two years and nine months old we had been to Regina to visit my Sister.  J’s slightly older (by 7mos) cousin had just potty trained, so I made up my mind that he would start when we got home.  I made up a little song about going on the potty that included a reward of a movie he had wanted.  We started on a Tuesday and he was trained on that same Tuesday.  J went on the potty and didn’t look back.  No accidents, no nighttime diapers, nothing. He was done.

Apple on the other had has shown so much more interest than her brother.  Going on the potty, not going on the potty.  Going on the potty, not going on the potty.  Telling us she is going potty in her Pull-up and not sitting on the potty.  It has been a yo-yo.  She is not quite as old as J was when he trained, but in another three months she will be.  And honestly, I would be very happy if she would just go already.

When I was asked to participate in the Huggies Pull-Ups Potty Dance Blog Tour by Mom Central I figured this would be the perfect time.  I would show Apple the videos by Jessica Holmes and Traci Melchor teach her the little dance and we would be good to go.  Well, so far she has watched the dances and danced while going potty in her Pull-Up but, hopefully it will sink in and she will be doing the Potty Dance while going to the potty to go!

If you are in the midst of or getting ready for the potty training to start, it wouldn’t hurt to show your little one the videos give them a little extra tool to help them on their way.

*This post is part of the Mom Central Blog tour, by participating in the tour and sharing my potty training experiences, I am receiving a $25 gift card to Chapters and a chance to win an iPod Touch.

I made it to the Inn!

I managed to get onto the airplane without bawling my eyes out.  I made it all the way to Maryland had lunch with my cousins, checked into the Inn and and did a tour of the trade show, all without bawling my eyes out.  Then I got to talk to the children on the phone.

I didn’t quite bawl my eyes out, but I am choked up and trying desparately not to cry.  I now fear that I may turn into a bumbling mess of tears at any given moment.

I have been away from the family for 10hours, officially the longest I have been away from them.  But, the upside is if I have to be away from them, I get to stay in this fabulous room!!

And it comes complete with it’s very own garden.

Now if you have to be away from your children for the very first time, may I suggest checking in to The Inn at Perry Cabin, it may make it that much easier for you.

Now, I must get ready to meet 70 other women photographers who share in the same passion as I do.  And hopefully nobody will ask me how my kids are doing.

Leavin’ on a Jet Plane

On Sunday, I am leaving on an airplane and flying South.  I am attending Workshop on the Waterfront with The Savvy Photographer in St.Michael’s Maryland. This is a really big deal.  Not only because I am going to be surrounded by wonderful women who are photographers but, because I will be leaving these three gorgeous people behind.

I have left Hubby alone before, but never the children.  This is my first time being away from either of the kids.  Twice I have been away from J overnight but both of those situations were less than 8 hours.  I am having anxiety attacks and have cried at least once a day.  I do know this will be good for all of us, but it is really, really hard.  The only thing keeping me going is knowing I will come back with all this knowledge that I can use and share.

I can do it!!  Cheers welcome!
