Despite trying to get ready for Halloween yesterday, there was the looming snow storm on the horizon. J and I got out the decorations, but didn’t put them outside for fear they would be buried or blown away in the strong winds.

As the day wore on, I started to hope that perhaps the storm would pass us by. But by 6pm the snow started to fall. J really wanted to go out and play in it, so he bundled up in his new snowsuit and boots and headed out. He got in a good half hour before it got just a little too dark for his liking. By 4:30 am he was up and ready to go.
The walk to school was long but good and the happiness that lingered all day long when he played outside for an hour after school and another hour and a half after swimming was well worth an early winter storm. That and knowing that the hot day they had in Regina today is going to hit us on Friday. Which means all this snow will be gone and we can start all over again in December, late December please.

For Winter.
As if last year still wasn’t fresh in our minds, a Winter storm is apparently heading our way tomorrow.
Do we have the snow tires on the truck? No.
Is the lawn furniture put away? No.
Do I have snowsuits and boots for the kids? Yes, thank goodness I went last week as we only found out about the possible snow fall at suppertime.
Here we go, gearing up for another white winter. The only good news is the forecast for Friday is a wopping 15 degrees above zero, so whatever snow we get should be gone in time for Halloween.

Winter
It is 4pm and the sun is shining, the snow is crisp and we still can’t get out into the street. Well, we could but the plow has not been by so we could get stuck. Two people have tried to go out, neither had four wheel drive and the neighbours had to push them back into their driveways. Two tractors from snowblowing companies have just barely made it down the street to fulfill their obligations.
The first photo is of the street at about 8am this morning.

The second is a viw of the car in the driveway, a repeat from a photo I took on Thursday.

And the third is the backyard. The swing are about half buried. Our fence is 8 feet tall and our backyard slopes. Where the snow stops on the pergola is where the top of the chairs come to in the summer.

Wish you were here!! ??
edited to add: We broke the record! 51cm fell, at least we got a little something out of it ;0).
