Somewhere over the last few months, my little girl, has become my BIG girl. At 20 months yesterday, Apple is tiny compared to her brother, but fearless. She is long and lean and has the abs I have dreamed of all my life. Her metabolism is incredible as she eats and eats and eats.
Where J and I can easily enjoy an afternoon with a movie and popcorn, Apple will have none of it. She is raring to go whenever she is awake. And her new favourite word is ‘outside’. I fear the rain that is coming for tomorrow and Thursday not that we can’t go out in the rain, but it makes it much more difficult for me. And sliding down the slide is a no-no for a 20 month old in the rain. And can I add that this is no toddler slide, but the slide on the play structure that was made for a three year old and up. She climbs the ladder and slides down all on her own. Be still my heart.
Her newest dare devil attempt today was the swing. Not her baby swing, that I love and cherish, but the big girl swing. She hung on and swung along side her brother. Laughing, squealing and enjoying the moment. She only let go and tumbled down once and it was party my fault as she was doing so well that I leaned over to push J for a second.
If this is what I am faced with at 20 months, what is going to happen when she turns two?
Friday night had our skies painted a gorgeous pink, I had to get a photo.

Saturday night brought our first Rainbow of the season, we were able to see both sides. All of us made it outside, teenager included.

Sunday we made it to the Tulip Festival. The news made it seem like more of the flowers were out, but next weekend should be even better, so we will be going again. It was still a nice day to get out.

J, in his tree. This is the second year in a row that he had to climb this tree. And Apple being a cheeky little girl, not wanting a picture taken.

Finally got a smile out of her.
There were a few patches of daffodils that were just stunning. I tried to get some pictures of the kids with these as a backdrop, but Apple was just not into the photo op at the time.

J was intently watching some Buskers perform. In this photo he just looks like such a little man, reminds me that he is growing up so fast.

I know it is only April, and the last time I remember it being this hot in April was back in 1999. Why do I remember because I got engaged on May 1st and I had been driving with my roof down for a couple of weeks already.
Saturday was the first really hot day and also the Pancake Breakfast at our local fire station. J really wanted to go so we donated a hefty sum of money for some pancakes (which J and Apple LOVED), waited in line to sit in the firetrucks and chatted with some of Ottawa’s Finest. It was great.
J was really in his element.

Apple was a little bored.

But, today~ WOW! What can I say about today? It felt like the middle of July, minus the bugs. J went in and out, he doesn’t like to get too hot unless the pool is set up. I used him for a photo assignment, jumping all around the backyard.
Then Apple woke up from her nap and wanted to go outside with her brother. They chose the swings.

Just look at J’s face. He was gearing up to push her very, very high!
And she loved every minute of it.

I am looking forward to so many more days of swinging in the backyard, together with my kids. And many more HOT days this Summer.
