Wow everybody. Thank you so much for all your wonderful comments. If I even start to get down on myself for not being back in shape, I am just going to come back and read all of your comments again. And again. You are all so fantastic.
Today was an absolutely fabulous weather day. Tomorrow is Friday and I don’t think all of the snow will be gone, but we are so close. We did not get all the rain that was forecasted, but the sun was beaming down and so strong that it is all melting and Spring is out everywhere. As are all the neighbours and their kids. It is so fabulous to hear all the kids playing and seeing everybody emerge with smiles on their faces. Nothing like being outside without being all bundled once again.
On the way back from school we decided to stop at the park. There was only one more kid at the park, which was so surprising to me considering. Apple was happy as a clam sitting in her stroller with the wind kissing her cheeks. In our family she is the only one who laughs when cold wind blows in her face. As the rest of us bundle up and shudder, she sits there giggling.

And J, well, he was in heaven. He was up the playstructure in seconds. I had the camera out and ready and before either of us realized he was down the slide and landing in a puddle. We both laughed and the fun continued. He splashed in every puddle. Played on every piece of equipment. Played in both the big kids park and the toddler park. He ran up the toboggan hill and was only slightly disappointed that he couldn’t slide back down. He climbed the rocks and had the most fun at the park since last fall.

Look at the fun he is having. He was at a dead run through the water and lovin’ every second. How could I say no?

The best part is that when we got home, he was still dry under all his Spring outerwear, so we didn’t have to change it all. But, after we played in the backyard later in the afternoon, we had to change. Somebody (me) forgot to put the splash pants back on. It’s all good, we have a washing machine.
Wow, what a busy, but great weekend. With Easter being so early it seems very strange to have had it come and go already. What on earth are we going to do in April?
Good Friday started with a Beach Party. J has been partying it up since March Break. His teacher had a beach party to kick of Spring Break and we have had regular parties since. They usually consist of J in his swim suit on the family room rung with his beach towel. The ceiling light is the sun and the kitchen floor is the ocean. He even has two little goldfish that have been swimming for almost two weeks. I step on them and they change locations, but no matter how many times I pick them up, they end up back in the ocean. I should have seen this coming really, I am BeachMama after all. On Friday when I had to give Apple an emergency blow out diaper bath, J asked if he could have a Beach Party. Who am I to say no? We had nothing else planned. So into the tub he went with his swimsuit and he went on and on and on about how wonderful the ocean was and all about the seagulls and dolphins. And when it was time to wash up, he took off his swimsuit and declared himself back in the bathroom.

Saturday saw us visit the Experimental Farm for the Easter Egg hunt and seeing the new baby lambs and chicks. Let me tell you one thing. This was the and I mean THE coldest visit to the Farm I have ever had. It was so cold it was very close to being uncomfortable but, thankfully we were dressed for it. Apple slept most of the time in the backpack and Hubby and I traded off. J got a little tired of waiting for them to hide the eggs but when it happened it was very fun. After the Farm we went to a playdate with some of our favorite friends and although J was glued to my leg for the better part of it, I had a wonderful time sharing with my girlfriends and seeing all the kids growing up.

Sunday was eagerly anticipated and J and Apple were up with the birds. We were doing the egg hunt and it was still dark outside. Thankfully this year we actually decided to hide the eggs before bed. Almost all the eggs made it to the basket, a few were found by Mickey, the husky. I don’t know who says that dogs can’t eat chocolate because he eats it at every chance he gets. I posted more of our Easter fun on flickr if you want to take a look.

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter Weekend. Now, seriously, on with Summer!

In more ways than one. I made it through the making of this cake. With my cold, I was feeling badly that I was even making it, but I am not coughing and I washed my hands constantly. The sun did not work out. I could not find a mold and tried to make some by pressing them in bowls, but they crumbled when I took them out. I could have melted the sugar in the oven in the shape of a sun, but then it wouldn’t have fit in the box anyway.
There are worms, snails, ladybugs, bees, spiders and flowers. A perfectly Spring cake. Oh yes, and some grass on the side.
Now if only the weather would cooperate. Our weekend forecasted storm of 10-15cm of snow has been upgraded to 30-50cm. It is supposed to start tomorrow afternoon, so I will be out in the morning making sure we are stocked up with all the necessities.
I am off to bed, this is one tired baker.
