Being Sick Can Pay Off.

Don’t get me wrong here, school is an absolute must.  But, I have to say that today was wonderful not to have to take J to school.

Last night was not as bad as I thought it might be.  J went to bed and slept.  We checked on him a few times, but the last check in before bed his room didn’t smell the greatest.  So I turned on a few lights to reveal that he had been sick again.  All over his pillow and part of the bed.  I was able to clean him up, move him to our bed and back again after changing his bed and he did not wake up. He did this once before, was sick in his sleep and didn’t wake up.  So, now I am freaked out that he could be sick and choke.  All night Hubby and I woke up and checked in on him.  The night went on without incident.

In fact.  Apple didn’t wake up either.  It was wonderful.  Her first true full night sleep since the night she was born.  When both Apple and J awoke at 5am, I was good to go because I had just had the best sleep since I was about 7 months pregnant.   By  7am everyone was fed, J was showered, Hubby was off to work and Apple was down for a nap.  By 8am, when we normally be leaving for school.  I had all the beds changed, bedding washed, four loads of previous laundry folded and put away. And I had had a shower.  By the time Apple woke at 9am I was well on my way to a full tidy.  I hadn’t been that productive in months.  It was wonderful.

J will be back at school tomorrow.  He has not had another incident.  He still has a minor cough that he has had for two weeks or so, but otherwise he seems to be himself.  Complete with running around the family room (doing laps) after dinner. Hopefully tomorrow’s school day will be productive and that he doesn’t catch something else.  I would love nothing more than to put us all on a plane to somewhere hot and tropical to help get over the sickies, but that just isn’t in the cards right now. So for now we will march on forward and hope for the best.

I did get my craft situation organized and J helped a little.  I will post photos when I get them well on their way.  I realized the other day that most of my frustration about the projects I want to do is that I wasn’t organized.  I love it when the light bulb finally turns on.

Another day off?

J went to school today after being home yesterday with a cough.  I picked him up.  We went to Walmart (oh the joy!).  Came home and he drove me batty all afternoon.  We had dinner.  J was sick. All over the family room carpet.

I guess we won’t be going out again tomorrow.  I do have some craftiness to get finished so maybe J can help me with that.

One Day Last September…

….I had a little baby.  Today, almost six months later, she is sitting happily all by herself playing.  Somebody please tell me where the time has gone!

Only last week she was not sitting by herself, and here she is playing with her toys, usually rocking herself trying to advance on the floor.  Sad but true she is also almost crawling.  Left to her own devices she can scoot across the floor to get closer to her brother and his blanket or a favorite toy.  It won’t be long and I will be running after her I am sure.

It also warms my heart to see how much J loves his little Sister.  On the rare occasion he wishes she wasn’t there, but for the most part he just wants to play with her.  Yesterday was Parent Day at gymnastics.  Apple hung out with her Grandmother while J and I went to class.  We weren’t in the car five minutes when J declared, “I miss Apple”.  I was thrilled to hear it but, reminded him to remember that the next time she is screaming at him, a trick he taught her in the car on Sunday.  One we are desperately trying to undo.
