About Me

Still have Jetlag

I think this is the first time I can officially say I have jetlag.  Either that or I am just exhausted from a week of tending to Apple by myself (I did have a little help when Mom was there, but Apple just wanted to be with Mama) or from flying with two kids all day long.  We had another stellar trip with Westjet, I may just have to write them a letter saying Thanks.  The six AM flight out of Regina was uneventful and Apple slept, hooray!  Our three hour layover in Calgary was spent having breakfast and letting the kids play.  The time passed quickly and we were back on an airplane before I knew it.  Both Apple and J were sound asleep before take-off and I had a two hours to watch tv uninterrupted.  It was amazing.

As much as it pains me to leave my Sister and her family, I miss home and Hubby and despite J asking to move to Regina, I told him to talk to his Uncle about moving back here.  It was another great trip and J is alreay making plans for next year.

Here is a photo recap of our last few days.

Meeting up with fellow bloggers, Anna and Kami.

I won a little giveaway from Anna’s blog and she delivered it in person, or I should say her beautiful little girl delivered it to me.  Bling for my fridge!

I made a little purchase from Anna’s Etsy Shop.  It is a very beachy painting to me and it matches my decor, so I had  to make a purchase.

The Corner Gas Set.  They just started filming their last season.  My last two visits we intended to get out to the set, so this year we went due to the fact that they won’t be filming next year.  Unless of course they do the movie that we heard talk about in town.

One of the many photos I took of farms on the Praries.  There is something to be said for the flatness.  You can see for miles and miles.  Farms and buildings are the only things on the horizon, it is stunning and beautiful.

And the last photo for today, Mamalang and I were exchange partners for the Organizational Swaparooni.  Her package was waiting for me when I got home.  She found a beautiful set for my kitchen one to hold all the mail bills that come in the mail and the other for  business cards.  I love them.  They have already taken up residence beside my computer on our little half wall.  The colours  match our kitchen paint and family room colours perfectly.  Mamalang did a fantastic job picking this out for me.  And we found out we love the same beach!!  Now that doesn’t happen that I find someone who has even heard of my beach let alone loves it.  Thank you Mamalang.

So much goin’ on.

Our visit has been very full and very tiring. My Sister, who just had a baby a week and a half ago, by c-section, was involved with a Conference. Shine. I thought we were only attending on Saturday for a couple of hours, since she should have been resting. But, Friday morning, not only did she wake up refreshed and anew, but she informed me we were going to a dinner that night and would be there all day on Saturday. I not only was unprepared, but I needed something to wear. Off to go shopping!!

I don’t have any photos of me in my new dress or new skirt, but I do have one of my Sis in her new dress, with our Mom and baby (Did I mention he was 11lbs 1oz at birth???).

Here is one of myself and a few of the nice ladies we met. Speaking of which. At Friday’s dinner, a beautiful woman was sitting with us and we got chatting. And talk about small world of all small worlds. Other than my Sister, at that time I only knew one other person in Regina. Anna Banana. So this beautiful woman is telling us about her friend. And all of a sudden I said, “Are you talking about Anna Banana??” and she says yes! So here we were sitting at the same table out of over 500 women, how crazy is that? She too has a blog so you will all have to go over and say hi to her. HEY MELANIE!! Unfortunately I did not take a photo of us together, I am hoping to see her again before I go, so if I do we will be sure to get a photo.

Sunday was Ballet recital day. We attended last year and GR was thrilled that we were attending again this year. J has been talking about going to the ballet for weeks. We were a little worried that the two boys were going to be out of control. But, the lights went out and they were perfect gentlemen. Discussing the different dances and the scenery and lighting. If we can keep them appreciating the ballet all through their lives two women will be absolutely thrilled to be married to these two. GR was a frog this year and what a cute frog she was. Having watched her first recital three years ago, it is truly amazing to watch how graceful she has become . She is well on her way to becoming a fabulous performer and I cannot wait for next years performance.

Monday has been jam packed. We sent Mom on her way back home, Sis watch GR in concert at school this morning while I watched five, count them, five kids, two of which are under 9 months. I did it and am still here to talk about it!! Then we went out to meet some wonderful blogging ladies and capped it of with a trip to the Corner Gas set. All this will have to wait for tomorrow as I am beat and haven’t unloaded the camera yet.

I hope all you Moms out there had a wonderful Mother’s Day.  Mine was … well… another Sunday.  I should clarify, I was woken to J and his Rainbow Book he made at school.  It was beautiful, he actually drew flowers for me.  And he sang me a wonderful rainbow song, twice.  My day started out great, it just seemed to pitter out after that.  So, to give myself a little treat, I bought a new magazine today.  It just caught my eye, not only for the name, but the delicious photo on the front.

I rarely buy a magazine for the first time without flipping the pages, but his one I had to have, at least once.  Anna Magazine is a Canadian production.  A woman in Winnipeg, started it in her home.  It is a quarterly magazine and is in it’s second year.  This issue is issue number six, so it is still very new.  My personal review is that it has potential to be great.  It is reminiscent of Donna Hay magazines, which I love.  The photos are fabulous and the recipes are divine.  I just found that it was lacking a little in content.  I do appreciate the mostly Winnipeg advertisements, but like a few other Canadian magazines, those ads are location specific.  In other words, if you aren’t visiting Winnipeg, they won’t help you.  The magazine is divided into sections and it took me a few sections to realize that there was a title page and then another page following that would have a little blurb about that title.  Once I figured that out it wasn’t too bad, but a little distracting.  It was fresh and clean looking, but for $8 (the same price as Donna Hay’s magazine) I would like just a little more.

J and I had “some work to do today” as he kept telling me over and over again.  His school has a collections fair every year for the Junior and Senior Kindergarten Kids.  J chose to collect keys.  And by collecting, he asked his Dad and I for keys and I found a few and his Dad brought a box home from work.  The box sat on the island for two weeks.  J would take out the keys, sort them, show them to friends but we did not put it all together on display.  Until today.  The fair is tomorrow.  Yes, I think it is safe to say I procrastinate a little.  I didn’t mean to, it just happens sometimes when I am doing too many things.  But, Friday I made a list of things to finish. And today with the collection we crossed off the last thing.   J glued each and every key on that piece of wood.  They are separated by silver and gold colours and by the categories Work, Home and Car.  J wrote each word on a sticker and we stuck them on the wood in between the silver and gold keys.  I was quite proud of him as he couldn’t even write one letter when he started school.  He is very proud of his collection, so don’t be surprised if you see another photo from the fair tomorrow.

And little Miss Apple.  Well.  She is giving me a little bit of a hard time with sleep right now.  You see it is all my fault.  There were times that I was so exhausted that once J was in bed, I would let Hubby take her downstairs where he would put her to sleep in front of the tv.  That is just the wrong thing to do.  By six months J had his little routine and was in bed by seven every night.  Apple is now eight months and went from going to bed at seven to almost nine most nights.  I wanted to put a stop to this a while ago, but again I was too tired to worry.  Now, I need to break this habit and it is wearing me down.

I know there is only another month and a bit of school, so hopefully things will work out for good this summer but, right now, Apple is still having two naps most days.  But, I think she only needs one.   Her wake times are going from four hour stretches to five or six hour stretches.  Unfortunately she falls asleep around 9:30-10am and I have to wake her up at 10:30am to pick up J from school.  This leaves her with not enough sleep to make it to bedtime.  Thus, today she had a catnap at 3:50pm.  I woke her up after 20min and even put her in the playpen with us in the family room so she wouldn’t get too comfy.  But she didn’t go back to bed until 9:15pm.  This makes for a very long day for me.  Combine that with the fact that she doesn’t want to go to sleep for me, her mother, makes it a little tough.  But, in a week and a bit I am going to be flying to Regina in the evening and I need to be able to soothe my baby to sleep!  Not that I expect a magic answer here, but I thought I would share my nap/sleep woes with you all because you just never know who might have a great suggestion.

And with that said, it is now almost 10pm, my bedtime, so I bid you all good night and hope that tomorrow brings me one step closer to getting Apple in bed a bit earlier.
