A Strange Realization

Just the other day, Tuesday I think, I came to a sudden and strange realization.

I no longer wear matching underwear.

Many of you are probably laughing at me right now, but if you knew me in real life prior to having kids and a blog and staying at home you would all be gasping in shock.  There was a time when I would not leave the house if my undergarments did not match.  This went on for many, many years.  I had all sorts of fun, exciting bras and matching underwear. And really, who would ever see them but me?  Nobody.  But I knew.  I knew if I wasn’t matching and it would drive me crazy.

I would also never leave the house without polish on my toes.  And went for manicures every two to three months and pedicures twice a year.  Now, I get a pedicure on my birthday and I think my last manicure was three years ago at the beach.

Now the question is, what do I do about this realization?   Do I run out and buy new underwear and spend a day at the Spa?  Or do I just accept that there are more important things in my life than my bra and toe polish?

Ahh, the things we give up to be Parents.

First thing I thought was that your hubby is going to start to wonder if you go running out and buy all matching stuff!!! He’s not going to think it’s for him!! I’m trying to think of things I don’t do anymore…I don’t buy myself any magazines anymore, I used to spend a lot of money on magazines!!

Oh I wish I was ever the woman who wore matching sets of undergarments and had regular mani-pedi’s…or a facial…I’ve only had one mani in my life and I thought I would die of bliss.
If it is still something that is important for you, then try it slowly – get one or two matching sets of undergarments and see when your schedule permits you to book a manicure…if you really like it, then go all-out! You are WORTH it!

    SO TRUE.
I used to match all the time. But my weight went up and down and then up and down and then I had a baby and then another and then my weight stayed down but BOY DID THAT DO A NUMBER ON MY BOOBS.

I’m half the cup I used to be and matching has gone the way of the dodo.

I have never matched but maybe I should start?

    🙂

Hey, now you know what to ask for your next birthday and Christmas! 😉

I used to ALWAYS send out birthday cards to everyone. And care packages to my good friends just for fun. I loved doing that. And since Annalie was born, I barely send cards to my parents and brother and best friends anymore, and I hardly mail out any kind of packages except Etsy orders. *sigh*

Yeah. I used to match too. Sigh. I promised myself a matching set when I finally lost the not-so-baby anymore weight. Have a feeling I will be waiting a while at the rate I am not working out… :). I still get my pedicure fairly frequently, but a mani? Probably three years ago.

Oh, me too… a lot has changed since having children!

Oh this was funny! I never matched much, and now I find it’s a treat to match. I think you should run out and pick up a few new things and also for that pedi – it’s spring. Sure, splurge!

    I LOVE matching!

Although I rarely have the time to put any thought into my undergarments in the morning getting something new that matches (if I take the time to do so lol) gives me a little extra boost and puts me in a better mood!

When I was working at the Post Office I always put aside a little bit of money from my paycheck after paying my bills to get a pedicure.
    Every other week..
    Yeah..
I haven’t had one since I left that job in October!
I miss that too.. I love having pretty toes!

You know I was thinking about stuff like this the other day. LOL!
I have never been able to match my bra and my panties in my life and yet just recently I was wondering what it would be like to get rid of the cotton granny undies and get matching bra’s and panties. Then I thought like Tanya my hubbie would wonder who it’s for because I have never done that! That’s when and if he even noticed. Takes him months to notice a new top. UNLESS it’s on the credit card bill. SIGH.
As for a pedicure…never had one.

I rarely match, and only have on special occasions (if you KWIM????). I do have a few matching sets but am WAY more into comfort now. At this stage I have been wearing a nursing bra for YEARS and am kind of excited to someday wear any kind of bra that doesn’t have a latch to open up the cup!!!

I haven’t had a pedicure in a couple years, but used to before my kids. A friend gave me a gift cert. for one on my birthday and I plan to use it soon!

    Priorities change!

I say go for a mani/ped. It is so relaxing. The underwear can come back when you have time to think about how you dress. I know these days the only criteria I have is clean. Matching… not so much.

Does it count if they’re both white cotton?

If so, I match ALL. THE. TIME.
