I made it to the Inn!

I managed to get onto the airplane without bawling my eyes out.  I made it all the way to Maryland had lunch with my cousins, checked into the Inn and and did a tour of the trade show, all without bawling my eyes out.  Then I got to talk to the children on the phone.

I didn’t quite bawl my eyes out, but I am choked up and trying desparately not to cry.  I now fear that I may turn into a bumbling mess of tears at any given moment.

I have been away from the family for 10hours, officially the longest I have been away from them.  But, the upside is if I have to be away from them, I get to stay in this fabulous room!!

And it comes complete with it’s very own garden.

Now if you have to be away from your children for the very first time, may I suggest checking in to The Inn at Perry Cabin, it may make it that much easier for you.

Now, I must get ready to meet 70 other women photographers who share in the same passion as I do.  And hopefully nobody will ask me how my kids are doing.

The room looks really beautiful, Anna! I’m so happy you made it there safely and things are – of course – going so well. I knew I should have come along and called myself your personal assistant 🙂 I’m so excited for you and know the conference will be totally amazing! Enjoy yourself and relax. Yes, that’s an order!

Well done Anna. You are doing great and hopefully enjoying your time at that lovely Inn. Take a deep breath and enjoy. You deserve it. Look forward to hearing more.

Don’t worry, you are doing great! You know they are in the best of hands (besides your own, of course). I’m glad you’re enjoying such a lovely room. 🙂

I understand more than you know! Leaving your children behind is the hardest thing in the world — at least for me. I remember when I shot that big wedding in NYC, a city I’d dreamt about visiting my whole life, I still felt so broken-hearted that my children weren’t there experiencing it with me. It didn’t matter that I was in the funkiest hotel room ever!

It took a couple of days to get over it and I still came home wishing they’d been there with me.

It is good to go away, so that you realize how great you have it — but I don’t know that I’ll ever feel the same about traveling alone now that I’m a mom… xoxo

PS. All that said, I can’t wait to hear about the conference!

I know that is hard for you, but for me it’s the return, when they OH HI Mommy…were you gone? Like I was never even gone. SO now I just leave and no big deal is made by me or them. LOL!
Have a good time and we need to have coffee and talk when you get back about all that you learned!
    Hugs

That looks like the perfect place for your first getaway. Good for you. Try and have fun, keep busy and remember just how happy they will be see you when you get back.

PS I’d like to know more about that place…we’re trying to figure out where we want to go for our 10th anniversary.

I am so jealous. I’ve been wanting to go to St. Michaels, and have looked at the Inn numerous times. And again…you were so close 🙂 I hope you had a fab time!
