My Dad, bless his heart, was saving this bottle of wine for the next time his four girls would be together. But, when I called and said I forgot to pick up wine for dinner and could he bring something, Dad picked the best bottle of the bunch. It was quite fitting that I should be drinking a wine called “Girls Night Out” as I was at home on my birthday, not going out, but feeling like I was. We brought in texmex and had a lot of fun. And quite frankly Girls Night Out is quite a nice wine and not only would I recommend it but, I would buy it again for another evening in.
Back in September, I pre-ordered The Pioneer Woman’s Cookbook, with a gift card that I had. It was scheduled to ship and arrive just before my birthday, but last week I received an email saying that it would not be shipped until October 31st. A little bummed I put it out of my mind. But, when I went to the mailbox to see if a parcel had arrived from Regina, not only was it there, but right beside it was my cookbook.

A lovely, lovely book. Full of colour and delicious recipes, even my Dad was flipping through it making requests. Today, my Mom was over and decided that she must have one for herself as well, so I think it will be a big hit around here. I just won’t tell Hubby that they are not low-cal recipes.
Alas, I am now in my 39th year. I am not too worried, not too stressed. But, there are a few things I still wanted to complete before I hit 40, so I have 364 days to get them all done. When you look at it like that I don’t have much time at all.
I did have a wonderful Birthday and look forward to celebrating my 40th in a years time.

As promised here is a photo from last night. The hair was a pain in the butt to comb out, but it sure was fun.
Over all the night was a blast, at the very end J was getting upset that his best buddy wasn’t really dancing with him, but he wasn’t dancing with anybody he was just running amok because he could (freedom to run around your gym at school and not get in trouble, exactly).
Hubby and I were surprised at how many parents came and didn’t dress up, we figure it was about a 75/25% split. I mean here is your chance to try out your costume and have some silly fun with the kids. Another thing we realized is that although we are hip to new and upcoming Rock music we are definitely not hip to the party mixes. Except for that Superman thing that I saw on Ellen, there were just a few too many songs that I didn’t know. Time to get into the program so I know what my kid should be listening to. Somehow I think the fact that he knows most of the words to most of the U2 albums won’t get him far with the ladies.

Now on to the rest of the festivities. Today is my birthday, I am not 40 yet and I have a lot to do in this next year to complete all my goals of things to do before 40. Here I go!
