When Bethany posted photos of her Easter baskets that she crocheted, I instantly fell in love.  They are so colourful and cute.  I really wanted one.  But, alas, I am not as talented in crochet.  Then, she put two up in her Etsy shop.  Yay for me!  Then, I thought they were both sold.  But, I noticed she still had one left, so I jumped on it.  That and a headband that I wore all day today and it never fell out.  Too bad I forgot to take a photo of myself.  So this is how Apple got her first purse.  And she sat there putting her pacifier in and out and stuffing a few toys in it, then taking them out.  I was so proud of her, only seven and a half months old and already she knows what she needs in her purse.  Thank you Bethany for making such a beautiful basket.  It will be cherished for a very long time to come.

Saturday we went to the Fire Station here in our community.  They hold a pancake breakfast every Spring. And every year I hear about it after it happened.  But, this year we made it!  We met up with some of J’s buddies from school and their parents.  The boys climbed all over the fire trucks.  The firemen were great about it.  I would have been a little anxious but they seemed very casual about all the kids touching their gear.  Perhaps because it offered a break in their routine and something to catch up on later.

The station is officially closed for the morning and the garage is lined with tables.  The local Lions Club puts on the breakfast and all proceeds go to charity (which is great, otherwise it was a very expensive breakfast).  The pancakes were delicious and the sausages were pretty good too.  The service was friendly and full of smiles.  And we all had a wonderful morning.  I have to remember to make pancakes more often, they were gone in seconds.  More fire station photos can be found on my flickr page.

Our newest addition

This year a Robin has decided to make his nest on our entrance post.  We had a family two years ago, then last year an attempt was made but the neighbors were too noisy.   It is still pretty noisy out there, but the Robin family seems pretty content.  We don’t use our front door a lot.  Hubby uses it twice a day and the rest of the time, I go in and out the garage (sad, I know, but I park in the garage and when I walk J to school, I have to put Apple in the stroller and that is also parked in the garage.).  I hope to enjoy the newest additions to the Robin family as we love seeing them first thing in the Spring and their song is so pretty.

J was trying out his Buddy’s new trampoline and for some reason was doing a funky dance.  One day he is going to either be thrilled that I have so many silly photos of him.  Or he is going to be very, very mad.

Thank you for all your wonderful photography comments.  That just warms my heart.  One day, perhaps when the kids are older, I will get my chance to pursue it.

Watching my two kids swinging together and having fun is priceless.  Having Apple stick her little tongue out at me is wonderful, considering I just found out she is tongue-tied.

Apple’s laugh is infectious and I just love it.  J’s silliness is wonderful and I wish that he was that happy all the time.  His best buddy was over running through the sprinkler with him, so life was very good in his books.  And J finally giving me a wonderful smile instead of hamming it up.

Today wasn’t quite as warm and we had a thunderstorm.  In addition I also had to go to swimming lessons with J and swim!  Not the worst I have looked in a bathing suit, but not the best either.

And the best compliment I have ever had came today. It just warmed my heart.  I took photos of both J and his buddy in the sprinkler and sent some photos to his Mom through email.  Her and her Hubby thought they were fabulous and asked if I would do their family portraits!  I felt so blessed.  But, had to admit that portrait work is my weakest.  I work best from a distance  and when the subject isn’t always ready for my shots.  But, I will take the compliment and work towards learning a bit more about portrait work so one day I could possibly do it.
