Picture in Picture

I received an invitation to join Jen’s Picture in Picture Project from Secret Agent Josephine the other day, and I didn’t hesitate to join up.  I love this idea, passing around photo after photo after photo and we just keep adding to it.

Apple was a little mad at me for making her hold the picture instead of crumple it into a little ball, but that is just the way it goes sometimes.  It was still the cutest picture of the ones I shot of her.

Then it was J’s turn, and I was trying to get the snow in the background for effect.  He gave me a few of his finest goofy grins, but he was still happy to do it.  And it seemed like a cool idea for him.  He has watched Bug star in several homemade movies so he thought it was cool that we had her photo to put in a photo.

Hubby liked the idea so much that we might try to do one of the family to send out to the Grandparents.  Kind of a neat way to do a family photo.

What can you do?

I picked up J in the truck today at school and pulled in behind this guy.  He was parked a little off in his big truck, so I had to pull in tight so I wasn’t blocking the school bus lane.  Well I guess, in my perfect parkingness, I pulled in just a little too close and touched his bumper. And I mean barely touched.  A piece of paper could have possibly slid through.  If anything my license plate was touching his trailer hitch.

I saw him looking at the two trucks, so I took a look, apologized profusely and put the kids in.  I then backed up so we could take a look.   One good thing about winter is that the salt and sand that sticks to your cars in the winter lets you know for sure if you touched someones car.  Well, there was not a scratch in the dirt, not a mark.  And if one of us so much as touches the car with our arm or leg, you see it.  No mistake about it.

I look at it, no mark.  He says fine and wants to walk away, but I encourage him to look so there is no mistake.  He agrees, no mark.

And just to be clear, I didn’t bump him, just happened to stop at the right spot.  Or wrong spot against his truck.  We agree, nothing.  I apologize again and start to go.  Then, he licks his finger and starts wiping off the dirt!  Uh, hello.  If there is no mark on the dirt anything underneath is not mine.  He sees a teeny tiny scratch but says we will forget about it.  So I laugh and say, well that wasn’t from me under all that dirt.  But, somehow I know he doesn’t believe me.  Not only that but the mark is up higher than my license plate cover.  But, somehow, three hours later, I still feel terrible that I touched his car.  Something I have never, ever done before in public ( I will admit to bumping Hubby’s car at our old house, but we just barely fit two cars in the driveway and he used to not park close enough to the house).

Here’s hoping that I won’t feel guilty every single day picking up J at school.  I know in my heart I did not mark his peeling bumper (yes it was peeling at the corner) but, that part of me that feels guilty that I touched it at all is eating me away.

“D” Things that I Love.

Kim, over at Beanish and Other Languages I’m Learning, posted ten things she loved that started with the letter S.  I asked her for a letter to see how hard it would be for me to find ten things that start with the same letter.  Kim gave me the letter D.

Ten things I Love that start with the letter D:

1. My Dad.  By far the number on Love that starts with a D.  He is having some heart trouble, still, but they are working on making it better.  Hopefully by Springtime he will be right as rain and back to his old self again.

2. “Daddy”, as he is known to the kids, Hubby as he is known to me.  Yes, how I love that Man.  I didn’t list him as my number one D because he is really a H to me, but J told me that because Daddy starts with a D I should include him on my list.

3. My Nikon D50.  Although I wish it was  D700 right about now, I am still happy and thankful that I have my camera.  I was recently looking at my two old Film SLR’s and it would be so cool for me to do a comparison post from what I started with to where I am right now.

4. My Dog, Mickey.  He still seems lonely some days, but other days he seems to be perking up again.

5. Diet Pepsi.  Will settle for other diet sodas if I must, but Pepsi is the one I prefer.

6.  The Dog days of Summer. Yes, my favourite time of the year, the hottest, sunniest days of summer.  I was trying to figure out how I could fit my love of Summer into this post, and looking at Mickey’s photo helped me out a bit.

7. Dancing.  I don’t do it nearly enough, but I truly love to dance.  When we all get hopping here it is a lot of fun.

8. Driving.  Yes, I should add this in too.  I love to drive.  Some days when the weather is just right and the kids are happy in the back, I could keep driving and driving and driving.  Since I was twelve and my Dad taught me how to drive in a parking lot I wanted to get behind the wheel.  I used to own a convertible and a motorcycle, both of which I would love to have again, but only when the kids are older, of course.

9. Dolle’s Salt Water Taffy!  From Rehoboth of course.  Oh yes, I bring a bucket home from the beach every year and we spread them out  for a long while savoring the salty sweet flavour.

10. Decorating.   My Mom is truly the decorator, but if I had the money and the resources, I would definitely decorate more than I have.  Actually, I would redecorate a few rooms here in the house, given the opportunity, but for now I will just enjoy them the way they are.
