Getting back into the Groove

As things slowly get back to normal around here, after what feels like a whirlwind summer of driving, birthdays, puking kids (oh yes, I didn’t mention last week and the sick kids) and now getting ready for back-to-school. I feel like time has been slipping away from me. Every time I try to get back in the groove something happens to knock it all off kilter again.

Last week as we were getting over the Birthday and having a five year old in the house, we had the first round of pukies. J started it around midnight on Monday night. Only once, thankfully. But, we had to do a massive clean up Monday night and had him sleep in our room for the remainder of the night. He was white as a sheet for most of Tuesday and didn’t eat much for a day or two. Then, the running to the bathroom started. For three days, I feared leaving the house for two reasons, J wouldn’t make it to the bathroom with clean underwear and the other infecting any other kids in the neighbourhood. As J was getting better, Thursday night proved interesting when Apple puked all over me, not once, but twice. Then she was fine all day Friday, but puked all over me again, three times during the night Friday. This lead to the same thing as J and is only today getting over her ‘running to the bathroom’. Not a pretty way to wind up the summer.

At least I was getting caught up on some around the house projects that consisted of a major cleaning up.

As we drove up and down the Eastern Seaboard this summer, I decided to make use of the eleven to twelve hours in the car. The first trip I finished two hats, the crazy colourful one and the simple cream one. I had all sorts of yarn to use up so I went ahead and knitting myself away. You see, Hubby doesn’t let me drive anymore. We used to share the trip, but he can’t reach the kids behind him very well, so it is my job to keep them happy. On trip number two, I knitted three pumpkin hats. One for Apple and two more. I have posted them in my Etsy shop and have already sold one. Not bad for keeping my hands busy and not getting car sick from reading.

As I get our house back in order and get J back in school, I hope to start having more time for me, which of course means that I will finally get caught up on all my blog reading that I have missed out on this past couple of weeks. See you all soon, and I hope that the pukies that hit our house do not, in any way make it to yours.
