All of my friends and family know how much I love the Beach and Ocean and usually if they pick me up a little something, it follows with the grand theme of being at the Beach. When my Cousin and his family arrived last weekend, my beautiful Cousin-In-Law (see photo below) brought me a sweet little plaque and frame. And since we have been chatting recently of actually framing stuff up or putting photos into a photo album. I thought it only fitting that I frame up a photo and post about it so if she happened to stop by she would see how wonderful it looks.

The plaque reads, “My Heart will always be in a Cottage by the Sea”. I chose a photo that my Sister took of Hubby, J, Apple and I at the Beach this past summer and I think that it looks quite good. My only regret is that A didn’t make the trip with us and therefore is not in the photo. And I don’t have a recent photo of the five of us at this point in time, so for now this one made the cut.

The tones in the plaque and frame match up perfectly with the wall colour and accents. The photo below shows where it is hanging in relation to the kitchen. It isn’t easy to see, but it is on the wall section by the half wall. Which is where I spend a good portion of my day. My computer and planner reside on this wall and it is in the kitchen and close to the kids. I am often found standing there reading something or sitting in the chair opposite the half wall typing away.

Thanks again, Cousin-In -Law for being so thoughtful and bringing a little piece of the Beach to my home. I will think of you every time I look at it.

I joined the Fall Fabric Swap over at Marvellous Mouse Designs and today in the mail, I found my package waiting for me. Lynn over at Diary of a Mad Quilter put together this wonderful package. She read up of my love for the beach on my blog here and included some shells from the beach in North Carolina, seashell chocolates (which are not good for my waistline but delicious just because) and some gorgeous fabric. There is this one big piece with a lighthouse and beach scene, which I will have to put together a quilt to snuggle under when I am dreaming of the beach, some matching checked fabric and this beautiful one with flowers.
Thank you so much Lynn, for the package, it it very much appreciated and I will have to post my quilt when I get it finished up.

We have returned from Delaware. My Uncle was given a military burial as he served in the Army. I feel blessed that I got to share this time with my Cousins who just lost their father. And with my Aunt who has lost, not only the love of her life, but her Right Hand Man. My Father spoke at the service, which we would like to say was a celebration of his life. My Father, who has only shed a few tears in my lifetime, had a hard time keeping his composure while telling everyone how much it meant that his Brother in Law loved him and his siblings and welcomed them with open arms. When my Cousin asked if anyone wished to say a few words, several friends came up and another of our Cousins as well has his two children. I felt that this was the time for me, to speak up and tell everyone else how much I loved him. So, I did. I made it through with only a few tears and a great big smile. I knew if I did not share it then that the moment would be gone forever. He will be missed.

There are a few of us missing in this photo, but this is pretty much half of our family. Growing up, we would vacation at the beach together in one big house. Now that we all have children, there would not be a house big enough to house us all for a week at least not with all of us leaving with our sanity. My Father (the man in the middle) has three brothers and three sisters and this photo represents them well.

My Sister and her family traveled from Regina (by plane thankfully), and another of my Sister’s was already spending a week at the beach with my Youngest Sister (who took these photos, well not this last one, but it was her camera) coming up from Charlotte like she did a month ago. So Hubby and I took three days in a hotel to be able to spend time with them and their kids. It was wonderful to get together at our favorite beach. We had good weather and good food and the kids had a wonderful time. We actually got back on Thursday night, but I have been in party planning mode for two days as it is J’s birthday party tomorrow with his actual birthday on Monday. I am sure to be exhausted but, hope to remember to take a few photos of the day.
