I just had to pull out the tripod today. I don’t feel like I have been doing enough to lose weight yet today I was able to wear my prepregnancy jeans. Without feeling like the muffin man.
I have continued without added sugar, but we have had Easter and dessert. I have bailed on the couch to 5k program, but I have been going at my own pace, when I can, as much as I can. I started my weight training again, and I didn’t realize how much I missed it. I have also tried to cut out a few more carbs.

I think it has paid off.
I won’t say that I don’t have any muffin top, but I am a far cry from where I was even a month ago. And I am so thankful. With the warmer weather finally here, I was happy to find out today that three of my skorts and two of my 3/4 length pants fit!
Whoot! Whoot!

J wanted to jump in for a photo. Next up, sundresses, YIKES!
I tried Bakerella’s cake pops. They turned out nothing like hers. First off, I don’t think we have premade cream cheese frosting here in Canada, so I made my own. I thought it was 16oz, but after mixing it with the cake, I think it was a bit more. The cake and frosting together was quite mushy or wet. I was able to form balls and get them into the fridge, but I am guessing they could have been just a tad bit drier.
Originally I had them on sticks, but after the first two fell off and started melting in the chocolate, I took the sticks off and kept trying to dip. The first batch turned out pretty crumby, so I finally gave up and just poured the chocolate onto the cake balls. They didn’t look at great and the bottoms weren’t sealed in chocolate. But, they sure were yummy. I took half to my girlfriends sleepover (which Apple and I attended for a short while. We had to bail so A could play hockey, at least his team won, is all I can say). The rest were left here for the boys. Well a mere 24 hours later they were all gone. So, they couldn’t have been that bad. I plan to do this again, but will try it with less frosting in the mix.

Today Spring was celebrated in style. Hubby was going outside this morning to search for pup bombs in the backyard. I quickly turned off the TV and declared J was to go out too. At first he was not thrilled. But once the sunshine hit his nose and he was prancing around with his jacket undone, he was golden. They stayed outside for almost two hours. Hubby came back in for some refreshements and J declared it was time for the picnic. The two of them decided to have lunch in the playstructure. I made J’s lunch and Hubby grabbed a snack and off they went. Apple and I were not invited, and truly it would have been hard to bring her up there, but the boys had a great time. They basked in the sunshine and warm temperatures that we have been craving for so long.

I predict that the snow will all be gone from the backyard by Friday, Hubby says much longer, but after yesterday and today, I can see a lot more grass, so I am sticking with Friday as the temperatures are staying warm and rain is on the way for Wednesday. I don’t think I have ever been this happy for forecasting rain.

If you look very closely you can see the grass peeking out under the playstructure. Today was a wonderful Spring day, the only thing that would have made it better would have been to have no snow left.
Lunch yesterday went fabulously. I felt really silly Wednesday morning when I realized, duh, Perrier water. And thank you all for your wonderful suggestions. So, off to the store I went. Right beside the Perrier, was French Lemonade and French Raspberry Lemonade. Well, I just had to get it, even if it was rather pricey. And my Mother- in -law and Sister-in-law were impressed that I made a themed lunch. The fruit and cheese plate was delicious, served with a fresh baguette from the bakery. And the Croques Monsieur turned out perfectly. I will definitely be making these again, Hubby didn’t even need ketchup! Dessert got changed up a little. When I was at the bakery they had some Eclairs, so I decided it would be easier to serve those than to make the Vanilla Pots de Creme. I still want to try them though, so I may make those another time as well. (Sorry there are no photos, but I was busy cooking and Hubby didn’t take any of me.)
I have reading another new (to me) blog called Bakerella. I found her when I was searching for cake ideas for J. Well, she makes these wonderful little cupcakes and today she was on Martha! I was so thrilled, even though I don’t really know her, to see her making her cupcakes. She did fabulously and I was just a tiny bit jealous that she got to bake with Martha. That is one thing I would love to do, cook, bake, sew, craft with Martha. I will be the first to admit that Martha Stewart has inspired me many, many times either with a craft or a new recipe. One day, perhaps my turn will come.
