Yesterday, I just had to make cupcakes. J wanted something to do, and I wanted cupcakes. So together we made them. I was hoping he would help me decorate them, but I was left to do it all by myself.

I did, however, have a lot of help eating them. My Dad came for supper again, A was here, Hubby polished off a few and J even licked the icing off of one,he doesn’t eat cake. I made him take a bite tonight and he was all, “Vile food Mummy, vile food!”. Surprisingly there are still some left. Maybe I have a little will power after all.

Apple was playing so nicely on the floor with her carrier that I was able to play around with some of the settings on my camera. I don’t often get a chance to do this so I thought I would post one of the many photos I took while trying stuff out. She was concentrating so hard, it was unbelievable. Today she was going up the stairs, but I couldn’t leave her to grab the camera for obvious reasons, so I will have to carry the camera around tomorrow and see if I or J can catch a photo of her climbing.

And a Robin update! We have three little babies. If you look carefully you can see the three little beaks sticking up in the air. The parents are pretty cool with us coming and going through the front door. But, when strangers come they flap constantly. It won’t belong and they will be flying away, leaving another empty nest.
Thank each and every one of you for you kind words and sharing your stories. We are still a little sad around here, but the show must go on as the saying goes.
And what better way than to whip up a wonderful batch of Curry Chicken, Secret Agent Style?

Thankfully, Apple went down for a nap yesterday afternoon, otherwise, this probably would not have happened. I had already had the chicken in the crock pot from her morning nap, but all the chopping and cleaning that I had to do for the rest (which by most standards is not a lot, but by 8 month baby standards it’s a lot) would have been difficult with Apple strapped to my chest.

The smell of Chicken Curry filled the house, and then the smell of bacon. It was all I could do to not eat before the Guys got home. My Mom is away so, I had invited Dad along for the taste test. After a long hard day of work, you do not want to disappoint a hungry man. He loved it. He and Hubby, could not believe the flavours that all the toppings brought to the sauce. I went easy on the curry as I didn’t think they would like it too hot, but apparently I could have added more. And that was the only comment other than Yummy!

I love having new recipes and apparently I have the go ahead to make it again!! Hooray or me! Thank you SAJ for sharing your wonderful recipe.

This weekend saw a few projects finished and a few new additions to our house.

Apple’s baby blanket. I finally finished it! I started it in January and finished the last trim this past weekend. And before anyone says anything, I know that babies aren’t supposed to sleep on their tummies, but both my kids do. I tried my best to have back sleepers but, by eight weeks it was evident that they were tummy sleepers. Apple with her reflux slept in my arms for almost eight weeks exclusively. J was better, but looking back he probably had a bit of reflux too. Nothing severe enough for medication, but enough that they couldn’t sleep on their backs. And both my kids were rolling onto their tummies at six weeks, that and the fact that I have a mattress monitor helps me sleep, while they are sleeping.

Round two of cake pops. I found some cream cheese icing ( I think the two stores I looked at were full of it when they said it wasn’t available in Canada) and they formed much better into balls and the dipping in chocolate was so much easier. I finished them yesterday morning for a dinner we were having with my parents and they are all gone today. Surprised? I didn’t think so. But, that is the end of my baking for a while. I just can’t resist the temptation right now, so alas back to fruit for dessert.

And finally, la piece de resistance. Our new fridge!! I have been waiting a long, long time for this fridge. This is what I wanted ten years ago when I got my last fridge. It broke when we moved into this house three years ago. But, hubby was able to fix it. It was never the same again. With our milk and produce freezing all the time, and the freezer being unreliable at actually freezing the time had come for a new fridge. And I love it. I drink so much water and to have it cold and filtered at the ready is wonderful. And the space for food, unbelievable. We have one whole shelf that is empty right now, unheard of in our old fridge.
I can’t wait to see what is in store for next weekend!
