Craftiness

I will admit that I was feeling a bit rotten but, lying around with all my exciting projects around me just wasn’t working. I kept drinking tea and eating lozenges. But I my throat was still killing me. So, Monday night I decided to try something. I asked Hubby what he thought about Tylenol for a sore throat. He figured if I could take it while nursing it was worth a try. So I did. It was a small miracle. I did not have to eat one more lozenge all night long. YAY!

Then, I headed to the grocery store yesterday and wondered if they carried the adult version of Coryzalia, which I give to the kids when they are getting a cold (I used it for J and now Apple, but it doesn’t work after 3 years old). And lo and behold, they did! I brought it home, read the instructions online and you can give it to four year olds too. J and I popped our little pills and we both feel much better. YAY!

Now, it is not a miracle, I still have a scratchy throat and a the need to blow my nose still is there, but it is downgraded by at least half. Where I was barely functioning on Monday, I just finished cleaning my whole main floor, including vacuuming the ever shedding dogs (this winter is wreaking havoc on their coat, they don’t know whether or not to shed or bulk back up and thus I have had enough of both the snow and their fur). Which leaves me time this afternoon to work on my projects. YAY!

I have the chocolate molding ready to make the bugs for J’s cake. Hopefully we can do it together this afternoon, I made extra so he could play with some too. I am excited to see how they all turn out. And if they don’t you can bet I will be picking up some pre-made sugar ones from the cake shop.

I have also started working on my “Pay It Forward” projects. They are coming along nicely, but I won’t post photos until they are received by their recipients.

And, silly me, signed up for Martha Stewart’s Easter Workshop. So, I have a few little Easter projects on the go. And I say silly me because I already have so much going on. But, since Easter is so early this year I didn’t want to forget once again to dye the eggs I blew out years ago. So, I have a few little crafties going on to help make it feel more like Spring.

With yet another Winter Storm blowing through, it sure doesn’t feel like Spring is on the way anytime soon (This is a photo of my already shoveled driveway.  And we are only halfway through the storm.).

Conquering the To Do

Conquering my ‘To Do’ list has become very important to me. I have so many projects that I want to do and so little time in which to do them that I have to schedule it with Hubby if I really want to get something done.

Saturday I had, had, had to finish some of them as they were part of a gift for my Littlest Sister’s birthday (littlest is so funny as she will be 24 and she is almost 6 feet tall, but she still is the skinniest so I guess she is little). My parents were heading down her way on Sunday so I figured I should finish up and save on the shipping.

Little Sis and I were talking about all the inspirations we have about stuff to do. That same day I received an email from Home Made Simple and there was this inspiration book. I knew I had to make her one. But, I did change it up just a little. I did not glue three pages together to make the page with the tab as I felt that was a waste of paper. And I didn’t write on the fabric, I just left it blank for her. I added some funky magnet paper clips (I should have photographed the whole present) and some matchy matchy stickies that she could use in the book. Hopefully it will give her inspiration to get going on her ‘To Do’ list as well.

She also mentioned wanting a reusable coffee holder, so I made her a couple with the same fabric as her laptop sleeve. These were the first two I have ever made, so they are not perfect, but she is used to trying out prototypes for me. I hope she loves it and gets some good use out of it.

I also added some fun stuff for her and I made one more thing. But, just in case she is reading this (watch today will be the day she checks out my blog) I don’t want to ruin the whole surprise. So Happy Early Birthday Littlest Sis, hope you have fun with Mom and Dad and we will chat on your real birthday in a little bit.

Getting our sillies out

J, Apple and I were having fun with the ‘photo booth’ application on my computer.  I know this isn’t our best side, but it was truly hilarious.  J and I were laughing so hard I was crying.  And well poor little Apple had no idea what on earth we were doing.  We took about twenty photos before we were finished.  One day I will pull them all together into a photo album just to remember how much fun we had being silly.

Can I also say that I am now officially a knitting addict?  It all started with a hat.  Actually it started with a book about hats that turned into a complete addiction.  Apple doesn’t have her own hand knit blanket.  J has three but is only willing to temporarily lend the one that he never uses to her for the car.  She is constantly grabbing his blankets and staring at his blankets and so I started knitting one.  What you see above is one weeks worth of knitting.  By the time I am finished it will be summer, but that’s ok because she will still need a blanket in the summertime.  I really enjoy that I have something to keep my hands busy, but I may have to take a break for a few days to get caught up on a few items on my to-do list.

My to-do list could be a blog post on its own, it is two whole pages long.  And that is lined paper, not just a note pad.  I have already crossed off a couple of cleaning to-do’s.  Like the loft.  Our never ending clutter room.  That is the room that houses my work table, Hubby’s desk and the kids desk.  Everything get put there for sorting.  Piles of paper, stuff without a home.  So together Hubby and I cleaned it up this Sunday.  It was great because I cannot be crafty surrounded by clutter. Today I tackled two cupboards in the kitchen.  All of a sudden I realized that there was a whole shelf us stuff I hadn’t touched since we moved in here almost three years ago.  Today was garbage day so off it went. And now the shelf has become the chip shelf so the chips no longer have to reside on top of my pots and pans.  I am so happy!   The rest of my to-do is pretty much crafty projects I want or need to complete.  I have a few new ideas floating around and can’t wait to finish my blanket so I can give them a try.
