Catching up

As things slowly get back to normal around here, after what feels like a whirlwind summer of driving, birthdays, puking kids (oh yes, I didn’t mention last week and the sick kids) and now getting ready for back-to-school. I feel like time has been slipping away from me. Every time I try to get back in the groove something happens to knock it all off kilter again.

Last week as we were getting over the Birthday and having a five year old in the house, we had the first round of pukies. J started it around midnight on Monday night. Only once, thankfully. But, we had to do a massive clean up Monday night and had him sleep in our room for the remainder of the night. He was white as a sheet for most of Tuesday and didn’t eat much for a day or two. Then, the running to the bathroom started. For three days, I feared leaving the house for two reasons, J wouldn’t make it to the bathroom with clean underwear and the other infecting any other kids in the neighbourhood. As J was getting better, Thursday night proved interesting when Apple puked all over me, not once, but twice. Then she was fine all day Friday, but puked all over me again, three times during the night Friday. This lead to the same thing as J and is only today getting over her ‘running to the bathroom’. Not a pretty way to wind up the summer.

At least I was getting caught up on some around the house projects that consisted of a major cleaning up.

As we drove up and down the Eastern Seaboard this summer, I decided to make use of the eleven to twelve hours in the car. The first trip I finished two hats, the crazy colourful one and the simple cream one. I had all sorts of yarn to use up so I went ahead and knitting myself away. You see, Hubby doesn’t let me drive anymore. We used to share the trip, but he can’t reach the kids behind him very well, so it is my job to keep them happy. On trip number two, I knitted three pumpkin hats. One for Apple and two more. I have posted them in my Etsy shop and have already sold one. Not bad for keeping my hands busy and not getting car sick from reading.

As I get our house back in order and get J back in school, I hope to start having more time for me, which of course means that I will finally get caught up on all my blog reading that I have missed out on this past couple of weeks. See you all soon, and I hope that the pukies that hit our house do not, in any way make it to yours.

What a week!  Our fridge, which is a Maytag, was repaired on Wednesday.  After three phone calls on Monday, a calm one, a yelling one and a crying one, I finally got a confirmed time for Wednesday and $200 to buy a little fridge to carry us through.  I was not exactly happy, but I took it anyway.  What else was I to do?

Monday also took me to the garage with our truck for an oil change.  Well, the oil change turned into two new belts and a broken tension something or other.  Thankfully, we only had to pay for th part because one of the guys at the garage broke the tension something or other.

Add to that mess the fact that we have been having major connectivity issues left far away from my lovely computer.

Tuesday had us celebrating Canada Day, which was quiet, but fun.  I have photos to share, but unfortunately I am without a USB cable right now, so they are all stuck in my camera.

Wednesday saw me running back and forth with the truck, having my Mom come to wait on the fridge guy and me trying to pull everything together.

This has been a tough week.  I do have more to share, but am not sure how long I will be able to stay connected, so I think I will post this for tonight and hopefully get a USB going for tomorrow so I can share some wonderful photos with you all.

Hope you all had a great Canada Day and Fourth of July!

So much goin’ on.

Our visit has been very full and very tiring. My Sister, who just had a baby a week and a half ago, by c-section, was involved with a Conference. Shine. I thought we were only attending on Saturday for a couple of hours, since she should have been resting. But, Friday morning, not only did she wake up refreshed and anew, but she informed me we were going to a dinner that night and would be there all day on Saturday. I not only was unprepared, but I needed something to wear. Off to go shopping!!

I don’t have any photos of me in my new dress or new skirt, but I do have one of my Sis in her new dress, with our Mom and baby (Did I mention he was 11lbs 1oz at birth???).

Here is one of myself and a few of the nice ladies we met. Speaking of which. At Friday’s dinner, a beautiful woman was sitting with us and we got chatting. And talk about small world of all small worlds. Other than my Sister, at that time I only knew one other person in Regina. Anna Banana. So this beautiful woman is telling us about her friend. And all of a sudden I said, “Are you talking about Anna Banana??” and she says yes! So here we were sitting at the same table out of over 500 women, how crazy is that? She too has a blog so you will all have to go over and say hi to her. HEY MELANIE!! Unfortunately I did not take a photo of us together, I am hoping to see her again before I go, so if I do we will be sure to get a photo.

Sunday was Ballet recital day. We attended last year and GR was thrilled that we were attending again this year. J has been talking about going to the ballet for weeks. We were a little worried that the two boys were going to be out of control. But, the lights went out and they were perfect gentlemen. Discussing the different dances and the scenery and lighting. If we can keep them appreciating the ballet all through their lives two women will be absolutely thrilled to be married to these two. GR was a frog this year and what a cute frog she was. Having watched her first recital three years ago, it is truly amazing to watch how graceful she has become . She is well on her way to becoming a fabulous performer and I cannot wait for next years performance.

Monday has been jam packed. We sent Mom on her way back home, Sis watch GR in concert at school this morning while I watched five, count them, five kids, two of which are under 9 months. I did it and am still here to talk about it!! Then we went out to meet some wonderful blogging ladies and capped it of with a trip to the Corner Gas set. All this will have to wait for tomorrow as I am beat and haven’t unloaded the camera yet.
