On the Eve of the BIG Visit

Dear Prime Minister Harper,

I hope that you are taking time to prepare well for tomorrows visit of President Obama.  The fact that President Obama has agreed to come for a six hour working visit to Ottawa in the middle of February when it is cold and forecasting snow means a lot.

Take this time, Prime Minister Harper, to get to know President Obama.  Listen to what he has to say.  And respond accordingly.  I know that a lot of what is said is scripted, but there must be room for you to share an opinion, of which, I hope you share with passion and love for our great country.

In addition, I would really be happy if you could find in you the reason you wanted to lead our great country.  Forget about all the internal stuff going on right now and think hard.  Why did you want this job?  When you find that answer, you will find the passion you first showed us.  The reason you were chosen to lead our great country.  Take that passion with you when you meet President Obama.  You only get one chance to make a first impression.  This is your chance.

Best wishes tomorrow Prime Minister Harper, I want nothing more than my two favorite countries to be best friends.  We have the largest undefended border in the world, let us keep that border strong.  And let’s show President Obama that Canadians are in love with our Country and we make great friends.

Sincerely,

BeachMama

p.s.  Don’t forget to serve up some Beavertails for lunch, I am sure he would enjoy the Obamatail or even just the regular old Killaloe Sunrise.

Happy Inauguration Day!

Dear President Obama,

As our Country watched you become the 44th President of The United States, we were excited, happy, in awe and celebrating.  What can I even say really?  Your speech was uplifting, encouraging and well said.  You brought tears to my eyes more than once and I am so happy to know that you will be taking care of my Family to the South.

Even more touched that you have Vice-President Biden by your side.  Vice-President Biden has taken wonderful care of my favourite State for so many years, that I know he will do a great job.

Congratulations to both of you, you have a tough road ahead, but it is quite obvious that you are the best men for the job.

Rumur has it, President Obama, that you will make your first official visit to my fair Country very soon.  We are thrilled to hear that you have chosen to come here first as we do share the world’s largest undefended border.  And for this reason is very important that we remain strong friends.

As I live in the Nation’s Capital, it would be a thrill for me to get out and see the crowds, but with two young children and a bus strike that may possibly still be on, it just might not be possible.

I do have one favour to ask of you, if you don’t mind. While you are here, do you think you can inspire Prime Minister Harper to rally the same kind of enthusiasm for our Country as you have for yours?  He is a good leader, but somehow Canadians as a whole, whether they support Prime Minister Harper or not, do not get as enthusiastic.  We don’t have parties and galas surrounding the swearing in of the Prime Minister, well, that isn’t true, there are a couple but they aren’t televised and nobody cares if they served the same lunch that was served to Prime Minister King on the same dishes.

But, we cared today.  We cared what you ate, what you and your beautiful wife wore,  I know that you were served the same lunch as President Lincoln was served and that it was served on his dishes.  I know more about your Inauguration today than I do of the last ten here in Canada.  And I vote, each and every time!

There were parties galore, in pubs, bars, restaurants and homes.  Canadians were partying it up for you President Obama, how can we turn it over so that we are partying it up for our Prime Minister and our Country?  If you can impart this wisdom on your visit here, I would be forever grateful.

Thank you for your time,  congratulations again,

Sincerely,

BeachMama

TODAY IS THE DAY.

To all my fellow Family, Friends, Cousins and Neighbours to the South,

Today is your day to make your mark.  Don’t miss this chance to have your say.  As important as it was for us to make our decision last month, today is your turn to make your decision.

Don’t be discouraged by long lines and wait times, bring something along to read, do or snack on.  Consider all the other lines you have waited in in your lifetime.  Of all of them, this could be the most important one.

Best wishes today,

And yes, every vote counts.

Sincerely,

BeachMama
