Birthdays

Weekend Party

It was my Niece’s 3rd birthday last week and there was a little party on Saturday.  And although I wish I had time every single day to see my Dad, he works, so it just isn’t possible.  I wish his Doctors would tell him to stop working, but they won’t, so to work he goes.  Apple spent a rare few minutes on her Grandpa’s lap.  And by rare, I mean she doesn’t sit on anyone’s lap for more than a second before she is off and running again. So I pulled out my camera and snapped a few shots.  Dad was swinging the chair from side to side and singing some silly song that kept her captivated.  Then as quick as the song was done so was she and she was off and running again.

I was telling my Sister how I wanted to get some good pictures of my Dad and Mom together, you know, ones where he isn’t singing, laughing or has a jube jube hanging out of his mouth,  but actually smiling.  She reminded me that this is how Dad is, so I should just be happy with all my silly photos of him.  And  yes she is right, I am happy with them all, but would still like at least one nice one of the two of them together smiling.

J and his cousin J2 were running like the wind through the living room.  I actually caught this photo by accident and had to lighten it up to catch his expression.  Which is priceless and exactly the face he makes when he is running and on a mission.  They were playing Egypt so he was running to get his Mummy attire.

And last one to share from Saturday, Apple trying so hard to crawl around in her dress.  This dress is very cute, but also a bit longer than she is used to so while she was pretending to be a dog she ended up crawling up on her feet.  It was very cute, especially all the little barking noises she was making. *Note to self, try to catch her dog imitation on video before she stops doing it.

And that was our partying it up for the weekend.  Stop the excitement is killing me!!  Just kidding of course.  We had a fabulous time and spent the rest of the weekend cleaning the house and putting away laundry, not too exciting if you ask me.

Birthday Girl

Tomorrow, not today, tomorrow is my Aunt’s Birthday. I have been trying very hard to remember her birthday as it is her first alone without my Uncle.  All week I have been telling myself, call your  Aunt on Friday, call on Friday, don’t forget Friday… call your Aunt.

Well, this morning, I remembered!  Ah ha, I must call my Aunt, it’s her Birthday!

The phone rang for a bit, then my breathless Aunt answered.  She had been running back in to grab her grocery list that she had forgotten.  I wished her a Happy Birthday and we got chatting, talking about the snow, skiing, weather, Delaware,Vice-President Bidon.  Then she reminded me that it was indeed THURSDAY.  The day before her birthday.  Ack.

Well, at least I was first to send her wishes and who knows perhaps we wouldn’t have had the opportunity to chat tomorrow as she will be busy with her friends, playing bridge, having lunch, and finally a  birthday dinner.  I only wish it wasn’t winter.  As I would have headed down with my Sister to Charlotte, NC and made a birthday stop at my Aunt’s house and perhaps my favorite beach.

Since I had no desire to drive for fifteen hours with Apple and J in the Winter, I figured a photo of my Sister and I at the beach this past July will suffice for now.  And possibly remind me why I put up with all this snow.  Which I believe is to appreciate Summer so much more.

Happy Birthday sweet Aunt.  May you have a wonderful day with friends and family and know, that we all Love you so much.

*Note: My Aunt has not changed a bit, those two photos were taken two years and two seasons apart, there is something to be said for not enduring Winter.

Happy Bamboo to Me!

For my Birthday I received a gift card to my favorite store.  If I had a lot of money, I could have put it towards a new lens or camera, but since I don’t have a lot of money, I wanted to buy myself something I would normally not buy.  And it had to be paid for in full by the gift card.

So, this is what I bought.

A Wacom Bamboo Pen Tablet.  It was on sale, complete with free shipping.

I have but one complaint.  I can’t use it on my lap.   So I have waited until today to set it up and take it out of the box, because I had to clean up my sewing table/craft desk/office.  It took me all week to get stuff put away and tidied up enough that I could sit comfortably and break out the tablet.

I actually moved the sewing machine out of the way completely, which in itself is very bizarre as I sew almost every day or two.  At least a couple times a week.  This is just a temporary situation, until I get this room organized properly.

I am quite excited about this as Mac’s have several applications that a tablet can be used with.  And most of all I can use it when editing photos.  Will I use it a lot?  I don’t know yet, but it sure is fun.

For the record I am not a drawing artist, but I can scribble now and then.
