I tried Bakerella’s cake pops. They turned out nothing like hers. First off, I don’t think we have premade cream cheese frosting here in Canada, so I made my own. I thought it was 16oz, but after mixing it with the cake, I think it was a bit more. The cake and frosting together was quite mushy or wet. I was able to form balls and get them into the fridge, but I am guessing they could have been just a tad bit drier.
Originally I had them on sticks, but after the first two fell off and started melting in the chocolate, I took the sticks off and kept trying to dip. The first batch turned out pretty crumby, so I finally gave up and just poured the chocolate onto the cake balls. They didn’t look at great and the bottoms weren’t sealed in chocolate. But, they sure were yummy. I took half to my girlfriends sleepover (which Apple and I attended for a short while. We had to bail so A could play hockey, at least his team won, is all I can say). The rest were left here for the boys. Well a mere 24 hours later they were all gone. So, they couldn’t have been that bad. I plan to do this again, but will try it with less frosting in the mix.
Today Spring was celebrated in style. Hubby was going outside this morning to search for pup bombs in the backyard. I quickly turned off the TV and declared J was to go out too. At first he was not thrilled. But once the sunshine hit his nose and he was prancing around with his jacket undone, he was golden. They stayed outside for almost two hours. Hubby came back in for some refreshements and J declared it was time for the picnic. The two of them decided to have lunch in the playstructure. I made J’s lunch and Hubby grabbed a snack and off they went. Apple and I were not invited, and truly it would have been hard to bring her up there, but the boys had a great time. They basked in the sunshine and warm temperatures that we have been craving for so long.
I predict that the snow will all be gone from the backyard by Friday, Hubby says much longer, but after yesterday and today, I can see a lot more grass, so I am sticking with Friday as the temperatures are staying warm and rain is on the way for Wednesday. I don’t think I have ever been this happy for forecasting rain.

The cake pops idea is too cute. Thanks for linking to it. Your’s look delicious too. Red velvet…yum!
Really, you don’t have tubs of cream cheese frosting in Canada? Huh. I bet you could use any old vanilla buttercream frosting. Maybe I will send you some tubs of cream cheese frosting as a thank you for the TOTALLY ADORABLE apron we received for Annalie today (well, it probably got here yesterday, but we just got back from out of town)! Not to mention the yummy Aeors which I promptly hid to savor another time. 🙂 You are so sweet to to send that apron, and it’s so fabulous! I definitely need to spam your Etsy shop on my blog because that was one well-made apron. And now I can say that I did like that fabric, so if you have more feel free to make my apron with that, or a similar style.
Okay, I’ll stop writing a novel in your comments section now. 😉
Those look mouthwatering… very happy that spring is FINALLY here!
It is SNOWING here 🙁 I hope your forecast sticks! We could use some sunshine, but I’ll take it vicariously, if I have to!

I thought about attempting those cake pops. They look so good!!
The cake pops look good. I can’t believe you can’t get already made cream cheese icing! I could eat that stuff by the tub.
I am glad to hear that someone else is not necessarily sticking to the couch to 5k plan but using their own pace.
We don’t have the snow to deal with but we have had a lot of rain the last few day (and we need it so it is hard to complain) and the sunshine today was great.
Oh no, I am trying those cake pops today…the cake is baking right now. The balls look yummy though….now i know if the little cakes dont work out we will just have donut holes:)
