EM Ottawa - April Event Part Two

19 April, 2010 (16:52) | EMOttawa, Photography | By: beachmama

You are all so patient with me.  I really try hard not to blog on weekends, unless we are snowed in or I am completely caught up in all of my domestic affairs.  Which is really never so I rarely do it.  But, as promised here is part two of last week’s EM Ottawa event with Donna Davis.  In part two, I wanted to share the rest of the trade show tables.  These women did a fabulous job putting them all together, so I have to post them for all to see.  We (EM Ottawa) will be having a larger trade show, open to the public in the Fall, so I will certainly let you all know when that is happening so you can come out and meet everyone and see their products in person.

*If I got your link wrong or am missing your information, please let me know so I can update the blog.  Thanks.

EM Ottawa - April Event Part One

15 April, 2010 (14:28) | EMOttawa, Photography | By: beachmama

This Tuesday we had our April Event for Entrepreneurial Moms Ottawa. Donna Davis was our speaker.  She shared her story with us on how her business became what it is today.  Donna owns Movement to Health, and shared with us how she started and grew her business and truly believes you need to write it all down for it to all work out, that and answer your phone.  You just never know who may be calling, ready with something wonderful for you or your business.

Oh yes, and Donna gave us a little taste of her Yoga and Movement to Health.

Thank you Donna, for sharing with us!

In additions we also had a tradeshow featuring some products from a few of our Members.  Here is a sneak peek.

A Silent Auction for Bev Sunday and Family

23 March, 2010 (20:32) | EMOttawa, Photography | By: beachmama

We have been keeping Bev and her family in our Prayers.  Bev and her Husband are slowly making their way on the road to recovery, but the road will be long and while they are recovering their children are being cared for by family and need assistance.  Since Bev and her Husband were both self-employed they don’t have some of the benefits available to those who work for another company.

With the amazing group of Women at Entrepreneurial Moms we are putting together a silent auction that will take place on Tuesday evening.  However, if you aren’t attending or just want to help out in some way, you can bid on the auction items online (in other words you don’t have to attend to win, although you might just love it if you are a Mom and have your own business or are thinking of starting one).  I have donated a Family (or Portrait) Session.  If you were thinking of getting your family portraits done, then this would be a fabulous opportunity to help Bev and her family and get your family portraits at the same time.

edited to add:  You will need the auction ID and password to see the auction.

Auction ID: BevSunday

Auction Password: children

I am cross-posting this with Anna Epp Photography.

Beverly Sunday

2 March, 2010 (14:24) | Prayers, EMOttawa, Kindness | By: beachmama

Beverly (on the Right) pictured here with J’lene Bradley (left) and Dawn Maracle (center) at the EM Ottawa Launch.

At the EM Ottawa Launch in January, I met Beverly Sunday.  A gorgeous, charismatic woman who is working towards opening an Aboriginal Dance and Fitness studio, HAWK,  in Hintonburg in April.  Although I was walking around trying to get photos of each member, I was also drawn to Beverly with her sunny smile and enthusiasm.

Yesterday, through Twitter, I found out that Beverly and her husband, Joseph, were in terrible car accident on Friday, February 19th.  They are both still in the hospital with head injuries, collapsed lung and broken bones.  Beverly had just been to the Olympics dancing at the opening ceremonies and now she is fighting for her life.   Please include Beverly and Joseph in your Prayers, she is Mom to three children and I just can’t bare the thought of them growing up without their Mom or Dad.

We are thinking of you Beverly.

EM Ottawa - February

18 February, 2010 (21:39) | EMOttawa, Business | By: beachmama

It is hard to believe that the February meeting of Entrepreneurial Moms has already come and gone.  And what a great meeting.  Held on Tuesday night at Lagos we got to hear Shari Westman of Comfort Keepers speak on how and why she decided to start her business and how she has managed to keep going through the challenges of starting a company and raising a family.  Shari was very motivating and wonderful to listen to.

Again another great group of women turned out for the event. There were a few new faces and I am already looking forward to the March meeting.  My only hope is that I am much healthier than I was this past month.
